  ABOUT US

In 1901, the Comptroller of the Currency issued charter #6030 to the organizers of the First National Bank of Las Animas and it was approved to open with capital of $50,000.00. Now more than 100 years later the First National Bank operates four offices within Colorado. The second office was established in La Junta, Colorado in 1993 while the third office was opened in Monument, Colorado in March of 2002.  In February 2006, the Fowler, Colorado office was acquired.

First National Bank is unique in that it only has 20 shareholders and the majority of the stock is owned by its officers and employees who have a vested interest in helping the bank and its customers succeed. Area farmers, ranchers and business people hold the remainder of the stock.

First National Bank is actively involved in various community organizations and seeks to revitalize the communities it serves. It provides a broad range of financial services and products such as online banking, debit cards, mortgage loans, agricultural loans, commercial loans and "Totally Free Checking" just to name a few.

Each of First National Bank's offices offers a special brand of banking. The Las Animas, La Junta, and Fowler offices offer seasoned Ag lenders able to assist borrowers with their farming and ranching needs. The Mortgage Loan officer in the La Junta Office provides the ultimate in service for any type of Mortgage Loan whether that be secondary market or conventional. And in the Monument office, in El Paso County, commercial loan officers assist borrowers in increasing their business and profits. The Monument office also specializes in mortgage, construction, and personal loans.

First National bank has prospered by remembering the need to offer competitive services while conducting safe and sound banking. It survived the Great Depression and the Agriculture crisis of the 1980's. Today it enjoys a strong capital base and a substantial core loan and deposit base. It will do well to remember the basics of sound business practices, to prosper for the next 100 years and beyond.
